Solar System for Kids: Fun Facts & Activities
The Solar System is like a big space family! At the center is the Sun, a huge, hot ball of fire that gives light, warmth, and energy. All the planets, moons, and even tiny asteroids move around the Sun.
Our Solar System lives in a galaxy called the Milky Way, which is full of stars, planets, and other exciting things. Today, we are going to visit all the planets and learn fun facts about them!
Earth
Earth is our home planet and the third planet from the Sun. It has blue oceans, green lands, and white clouds. Earth is the only planet known to have life, with plants, animals, and humans.
Science concept
Earth has land, water, and air, which are essential for life. Its atmosphere protects us from the Sun’s harmful rays and keeps us warm.

Fun fact
Earth is the only planet where liquid water is found naturally — oceans, rivers, and lakes.

Parent tip
Take a globe and point out the blue (water) and green/brown (land) areas. Explain: “Life can exist here because Earth has water, air, and the right temperature for life”. Let your child notice which covers more.
Draw and color Earth’s oceans and continents. Ask: “Where do you live on Earth?”

Don’t have a globe at home?
A globe is a great way for kids to see the world in 3D, understand continents, oceans, and countries, and make learning about Earth hands-on and fun. We recommend this globe because it’s durable, easy to read, and perfect for children’s learning: Buy it on Amazon.
